Fundraiser: new part-time post (applications have now closed)
This is a part-time opportunity to lead the fundraising of an inspirational dementia-centred community hub in Stockwell.
We are a very unusual self-governing community of people with dementia, carers and volunteers, based in an Extra Care home and meeting twice a week. Now we have achieved our first public funding —so we can grow into being a “dementia-centred community hub” with a presence and social activties on most days of the week for residents and people referred to us from the locality, and so we can become sustainable. This new post is for a game-changer who can lead us into a more financially secure future.
Set up in 2012 and registered as a charity in 2013, we have been identified as a model example of coproduction by the Social Care Institute for Excellence and featured as a champion of good practice in the South London Health Innovation Network’s manual for dementia-peer support groups. Our CCG has now made a grant to help us implement our sustainability strategy and to expand as part of their two-year Post-Diagnosis Dementia Support Strategy.
Thanks to a lot of small grants and members’ fundraising, we are solvent but not sustainable in the long run. Now we are able to recruit someone inspired by the challenge of building up the charity’s regular income and longer-term grant income, working alongside our two other paid part-time workers, each of whom runs specific activities and sessions.
The new job is a temporary appointment, initially for a year and extendable to a second year if (as expected) CCG funding is renewed. Appointment is subject to a 3 months probationary period.
Hours of Work 14 Hours per week including attendance at a few committee meetings, but otherwise with flexible hours.
Salary: 12,376 p.a. (40% of £30,940)
Pension: the law requires that the employer enrols you in a pension scheme (in which the employer would contribute 3% of your pay and you contribute 5%, less tax relief). However you are free to opt out within a month.
